Bel Air Home for Children and
Adolescents Moving On Project

bel air
THE CURRENT PROBLEM
When young adults reach 18, they sadly need to leave Bel Air home. Young adults transitioning from children's homes face significant challenges, including securing employment and housing. The lack of a structured transition can lead to adverse outcomes, impacting their ability to live independently and contribute positively to society.
OUR SOLUTION
The foundation has committed to the funding and constructing of a transition home within the vicinity of the Bel Air Home for Children and Adolescents.
This facility will be a two bedroom accommodation with a kitchen and living room to prepare residents for independent living.
PROJECT OBJECTIVES
FACILITATE SMOOTH TRANSITION: Provide a supportive environment that eases the transition from dependent living in a children's home to independent adult life.
HOUSING STABILITY: Assist in securing stable housing arrangements post-transition through partnerships with local housing agencies.
SUPPORT AND GUIDANCE: Maintain ongoing support and counselling services for residents to promote mental and emotional well-being.
IMPLEMENTATION DETAILS
CONSTRUCTION: Building a fully equipped transition home with residential units, common areas, and training facilities.
PROGRAMME DEVELOPMENT: Collaborating with local educational institutions and businesses to develop relevant training programs.
STAFFING: Hiring qualified staff to provide guidance and support, including social workers, career counsellors, and skill trainers.
EXPECTED OUTCOMES
INCREASED INDEPENDENCE: Graduates of the program will demonstrate improved ability to manage personal finances, secure employment, and live independently.
COMMUNITY INTEGRATION: Enhanced integration of young adults into the community as productive and self-sufficient members.
REDUCTION IN NEGATIVE OUTCOMES: Decrease in homelessness and unemployment rates among former children's home residents.
IMPACT MEASUREMENT AND REPORTING
FOLLOW-UP SURVEYS: Conduct regular follow-up with program graduates to assess employment status, living conditions, and wellbeing.
COMMUNITY FEEDBACK: Engage the local community and stakeholders to gather input and improve program effectiveness.
SUSTAINABILITY PLAN
The project's sustainability will be ensured through the establishment of partnerships with local businesses for ongoing support and potential job placements. A dedicated fund will be created to support the home's operational costs, supplemented by fundraising activities and possible government grants.
CONCLUSION
The Bel Air Transition Home Project represents a significant step towards supporting vulnerable young adults in Grenada, providing them with the necessary resources to succeed as independent individuals. Through this initiative, the foundation reaffirms its commitment to transformative community projects that yield long-term benefits.
